Reading Slumps

Hey Guys! So I mentioned in a previous post that I have been in a big reading slump. Being in this reading slump has allowed me to think about what I was reading and why. Therefore, this post will be about what a reading slump is, how my reading slump was caused since they are all different and how I am planning to get out of it. At the end of this post, there are some book recommendations that might help you get out of your reading slump.

What is a reading slump? + How mine was caused?

A reading slump is when you want to pick up a book and read it but you just can’t. This happens to me when I know I should read and really want to but I just Can’t bring myself to pick up a book. I have had some time recently to reflect on how I got into a reading slump. I came to the conclusion that the monthly TBRs I created were to big and they put a lot of pressure on me. I was also participating in a lot of readathons which also contributed to my burn out and reading slump.

How to get out of the reading slump

There are a few things that I am changing to help me get out of my current reading slump. As mentioned in a previous post, I will not be creating or posting monthly TBRs or participating in readathons every month. One way to get out of a reading slump is to reread one of your favourite books. I have done this before and it worked really well. However, this time around I will be reading Lord of the Rings since I really love the movies and have been really interested in reading the series recently. Also, since I have seen the movies I have some idea of the plot and characters which make it easier to read.

Book Recommendations

  • Your all time favourite book
  • Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
  • A book that was made into a movie that you have seen
  • The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
  • Contemporary because these tend to be quite short and easy to follow

Thanks for reading this post. I would greatly appreciate it if you could like and follow my blog and instagram. Thanks for reading, Tara.
