The Perks of being a Wallflower Review

Hey guys! I finished reading The perks of being a wallflower by Stephen Chbosky on the 6th of June. Yes, I did finish this book in one day. This was a reread for me since I did first read it in 2013. This book is a YA contemporary and I gave it 3 out of 5 stars.

When I first read this book I thought the movie was better. I still feel the same way now. Since books are normally better than the movies I did decided to give the book another chance. It only took me about 4 hours to finish this book. Trigger warnings for depression and abuse. ***Spoilers may be ahead***

I love all the characters in this book. The main character, Charlie has mental health issues such as depression. I love Patrick as a side character and his outgoing nature. I also like how Charlie’s sister’s part in the book is similar to that of his Aunt which provides us as readers with a lot of backstory.

Writing Style

This book is set out as a diary. There are no specific chapters so I just used each new diary entry as a new chapter. The format make its very easy to read. It is set from one point of view and is written in past tense.

Thanks for reading this post. I would greatly appreciate it if you could like and follow my blog and instagram. Thanks for reading, Tara.
